I collect die-cast automotive models, These are cars, trucks, military vehicles, tractors - in fact anything with wheels. I also collect supporting artifacts like loads for lorries, figures and buildings where they are contemporary with and relevant to the vehicles. The core of my collection is the Corgi range from 1956 to 1983. However I do not collect things like Magic Roundabout and the cartoon tie-in merchandise. I thought long and hard about excluding all TV and film related cars, but the James Bond Aston Martin, the Monkeemobile and the Batmobile are so iconic and key to the history of Corgi in the 60's I decided to include them. My Dinky collection is growing and it is based on a random list of favourites from the 'Great Book of Dinky' and any others that I see, like and buy. There was a fine period of modeling at Dinky in the early sixties, particularly the small British saloon cars like the Morris 1100 and Triumph Vitesse - in fact most of the Triumph range was featured. Anything from this period that I see I tend to collect. So, its an eclectic collection - if there is such a thing I also have some old Spot-On, Husky, Matchbox and Lone Star models and a few others shown under 'Historic Brands' below. These are mostly from the 50's and 60's. There is no theme to this part of the collection, they are just toys that I remember from my own childhood, some are actually ones I have kept since childhood, and others that I admire. Modern Corgi and Modern Collectables are new to the site. Modern Corgi refers to the newly produced products in the 1:43 scale area branded 'Corgi'. It is the modern stuff made for collectors. All the other brands which are new models made for collectors come under 'Modern Collectables' Any Corgis falling between 1983 and the return of the Corgi as a collectors brand are shown on a single '1984 on' page under 'Corgi 1956-1983' As regards condition - I like the model to be complete and undamaged if possible, but by no means do I insist they are mint, you need very deep pockets for a collection like that. I like the models to be in reasonable playworn condition, pre-owned, pre-loved and whole! How to use the site: The pages in the Corgi collection are arranged by year of release and list every model I want to collect. If there is a link I own the model, no link means I'm still looking. To make it simpler I've listed all the models I don't yet have on the 'Shopping List' page. On most other pages I just list the models I've currently got. If you are looking for something specific use the search - it actually works very well. I'm happy for you to use my pictures for your own purposes - all I ask is an acknowledgement and a link back to my site. Enjoy my cars. |
