Corgi 347; Chevrolet Astro 1 Experimental Car

Good old Corgi - another piece of obscure exotica. I tend to flip-flop in my views on their car choices, there were all these weird and wonderful machines like this and the Ghia L and the rest which we loved and would never otherwise have seen, but I wanted a Humber Sceptre like my Dad's or a Morris Oxford like my Granddad's. However this fits my definition of a proper Corgi. It is finely modelled, has a really novel feature - lift-up roof and a nice touch in the plated section on the bonnet. All that's missing is jewelled lights and all that spoils it are those nasty Whizzwheels.

Early releases of this car had the original red dot Whizzwheels and can be found in metallic blue or metallic green. The wheels were quickly changed to the regular one-piece plastic four-spoke Whizzwheels and these cars are metallic blue. Look for red-dot wheels as they get a small premium.

The Chevrolet Astro was released in October 1969 and remained in the range until1974.
