Hillman Husky |
|
I really struggled to find a non-mechanical Hillman Husky. They are really not easy to find in the single colour. The later metallic blue/silver cars are quite common, but the dark blue & dark fawn cars are scarce. The Hillman Husky was part of the first Corgi range in 1956. Slightly larger scale than the rest of the original release range and a good model of the short wheelbase estate version of the Minx. It was originally blue or tan in colour or a greyish light brown, probably the same colour originally as the sources only quote 'dark fawn or alternatively blue'. The original launch cars stuck closely to the colours of the real cars they were modelled on, which made them rather dull. The mechanical version of the car, with friction drive, was 206M and was sold between 1956 and 1959 in cream, shades of blue and grey. In 1959 it was part of the re-release of some of the launch models in to new two-tone colour schemes being seen as a bit jollier than the fawns and greens of the originals. The new colour scheme was metallic silver and metallic blue and it stayed in the range in these colours up to 1961. |
