Jaguar E-Type Roadster |
|
The Jaguar E-Type is proverbially one of the best looking cars ever made and Corgi Toys did not do a bad job of modelling it, over 3 iterations. This is the first, a Mk1 Roadster, later came a coupe and then a Series 3 V12 coupe. This first casting was released as a street version in either red or charcoal with a detachable roof and as a competition model in vacuum plated silver. All the E types (real ones I mean) were lovely. The early models were light, crude and fast and by the end of production they were muscle-bound sophisticated supercars, but they were all beautiful. 307 Street Version This is a finely sculpted version of the Mk1 E-Type and a really pretty car it is too. Corgi have truly done this one justice, it is very nice. The car was made from 1962 to 1964 in red with a red roof or metallic dark grey also with a detachable red roof. Values are high for both variations 312 Competition Version This vacuum plated silver E Type takes over in the range in 1964 from No.307. The plated car has a driver and a racing stripe, but no roof. There are no listed variations and values are good for this popular model. It was deleted in 1968. |
