Tanks & Military |
|
This page features the Corgi Toys military models released from 1973 to 1977, they are listed below in chronological order of release. GS10 Mack Tank Transporter & Centurion Tank This item marks some milestones. It is the first release of a series of really rather good military models featuring contemporary tanks and fighting vehicles and as far as I can see it is the first use of a low loader trailer which keeps coming back for many years in the post Mettoy era. The Mack Tank Transporter and Centurion Tank was released in October 1973 and remained in the Corgi Toys range until 1978. 901 Centurion MkIII Tank The Centurion MkIII Tank was released in 1973 and deleted in 1978. It is always camouflage olive & khaki 900 German Tiger Mk1 Tank The Tiger Mk1 Tank was released in 1973 and deleted in 1978. It is always camouflage green & khaki. 903 Chieftain Medium Tank The Chieftain Medium Tank No.903 was released in June 1974 and was produced until 1976 905 SU100 Tank Destroyer Made from 1974 to 1976, there are no listed variations. 906 Saladin Armoured Car Run of the mill Britains-style militaria - pretty mundane really. The Alvis Saladin Armoured car was in the range from 1974 to 1977. The turret rotates, the gun raises and lowers and fires using the spring loaded button on the back of the turret. 12 shells were supplied. There are no listed variations. 904 King Tiger Tank Corgi released the King Tiger tank in February 1975 and it remained in the catalogue until it was withdrawn in 1978. It is a model of a tank deployed by the German Army towards the end of WW2, It is more correctly called the Tiger II or Sd.Kfz. 182, King Tiger was a nickname given to it by allied soldiers. It was a fearsome beast, however I read somewhere that they were plagued with reliability issues and had a tendency for the on-board ammunition to explode and kill the crew; so not invincible then. 907 German Semi-Track Rocket Launcher The German Semi-Track Rocket Launcher was made from 1975 to 1980. There are no listed variations. It is a model of the Hanomag Sd.Kfz. 251 Half-Track operated by the German Army in WW2. The Corgi has rockets in the trailer which can be fired from the tubes on the side of the half-track. 908 AMX 30D Recovery Tank This AMX 30D Recovery Tank was produced from 1977 to 1980. There are no listed variations 909 Quad Gun Tractor, Ammunition Trailer and Field Gun The Morris Quad, limber & 25 pounder set was released in October 1976, mirroring, except for colour & scale, the Dinky Toys set No.697. The Dinky set was made from 1957 to 1971, the Corgi Toys set from 1976 to 1980. The Quad tractor was re-released in September 1977 as a riot police vehicle.
