Without the vacuum plating this would be another NSU Sport Prinz or a Renault Floride - that is a boring little coupe with no clever features - but the vacuum plating moves all the goalposts. It is no longer a me-too French 1000cc rear engined economy car - now it is an exotic track racer. Smart move Corgi. The Simca 1000 was introduced in April 1964 and remained in the range for two years being deleted in 1966. The Great Book of Corgi only lists the silver plated finish but in all the price guides you will see a dark metallic blue version listed. I haven't seen one of these but I have seen pictures on the Internet. However it is listed and at a good premium on the price for the plated car.
