A model from the very end of the Lesney period and unusually for Matchbox it is a model of a non-contemporary classic, the '57 Ford Thunderbird, although Wikipedia states that the 'continental' bumper mount spare wheel was only a feature for the 1956 model year. It is a very handsome model but would have benefitted from plating the grille & bumpers.
The model continued in production after Lesney went out of business and there are nearly 20 versions listed post 1983. The Lesney version is always red with a white interior and can have a clear or amber coloured windscreen. It is the amber screen version which is the one to look for.
This Matchbox was sourced in May 2013 from Lacy Scott & Knight auctioneers, it was sold in June 2013 via eBay for £10.61
