Matchbox/Lesney 65c; Claas Combine Harvester; Red With Yellow Front Wheels And Combs

The Claas Combine Harvester was added to the range in 1967 and was deleted in 1972. The combs at the front protrude down through the casting and turn as the model is pushed along. It was never converted to Superfast wheels retaining the plastic hub/plastic tyre combination on the front and black plastic regular wheels on the rear throughout its run. In fact it continued largely unchanged for the whole five years.

However Matchbox collectors being what they are a couple of rare variants have been noted. Some of the models have a round hole in the baseplate and some do not. No hole is harder to find and gets a premium on price. On some models the ladder on the straw chute at the back has open rungs and on some it is cast solid. Open rungs are rare and worth good money.
