Matchbox 20c; Chevrolet Impala Taxi; Dk Yellow, U/p Base, White Seats
By 1965 the Chevrolet Impala had calmed down a bit from the excesses of
the wonderful fin monster of 1959, which, by the way, was still in
production at Corgi, and still being used by them for new models too, at the time
this Matchbox was released.
This Chevy Impala Taxi came into the Lesney range in 1965 and was
produced up to 1969. The original colour was a dark orangey yellow changed
later in its production life to a brighter more lemon yellow. Interiors
started off in ivory white and were later changed to red. The other
variations are that some had silver painted bases and some were
unpainted. Wheels are usually black with a very few in grey.
Some versions of this car are rare and some are very rare indeed. Grey
wheels cars are really scarce and worth a lot of money. With the
orange/red bodywork the silver painted bases and red interiors get a
premium, of the later lemon yellow cars look for a white interior. |
