According to the box:
"The American four cylinder Packard was one of the finest automobiles of
its period. This particular model was purchased by Henry Austin Clark Jr
and is now at his Long Island Automotive Museum in Southampton, New
York"
Matchbox made their model
in 1964 and kept it in the range in the same colour scheme through until
1972, there being a special, one-off Connoisseur collection release in
cream in 1984 and a white model released in 1996 in the Matchbox
Collectibles series.
The core release is always red in colour with a
black bonnet & seats. The radiator, dashboard & cab floor and spare
wheel holder were in plated metal, although from time to time you will
find cars where some or all bare metal components missed being plated
(see example below). The steering wheel &
column started out plated metal and were replaced with plastic during
the production run, the spare wheel carrier originally had four prongs,
later releases had a three prong holder and there were changes to the
base-plate casting where a raised section was added between the front &
rear rivets. None of these factors affect values which are generally lowish as there are a lot of these around. |
