Box notes" The two seater 155hp Bearcat had a factory guarantee of
100mph. Price when new was $4,995. The engine reached its ultimate in
design in 1931 with the introduction of the double overhead camshaft
DV32 with four valves per cylinder. Prior to this owners warmed up their
Bearcat on the driveway, idling at about 250rpm while eating their
breakfast."
According to Ramsay this car was in the MOY range from 1974 to 1995 a
very long production run indeed, with a Matchbox Collectibles release in
1993. Most of the examples that come my way seem to be the two-tone
green version in the woodgrain box. However you will also see it in blue
with a grey chassis, Red with silver pinstripes, blue & cream, and cream
& red, no version is rare or gets much of a premium on price.
Boxes: The first release two-tone green car is always in a Type H box,
The cream/red and early cream/green cars are in Type I boxes, the later
cream/green and the blue/grey cars are in Type J boxes. The blue/cream
cars and the red cars are in Type N boxes with a single release of the
blue/cream car in a plain white Type P box for the US 'Great Motor Cars
of the Century' series. |
