Matchbox/Lesney 46d; Stretcha Fetcha; Red Base, Blue Windows, Ambulance, Large Red Cross Labels |
Here we are again, back in seventies with the weird and wonderful vehicles Matchbox were dreaming up at the time. This is a funny looking ambulance called Stretcha Fetcha. From 1972 to 1977 it was produced in white with either a red or unpainted base and a couple of different stickers, they are either just a small red cross as used on the Cadillac ambulance or a larger paper sticker with a larger red cross with the word Ambulance printed across it. In 1977 a German release was red top and bottom with labels reading ‘Unfall Rettung'; there was also a US issue in 1980 in lime green done up as a day van, but retaining the roof beacons, it has Viper Van stickers. Most of these are of very low value, of the white versions look for a red base with amber windows, the all red German one gets the best prices and the lime green Viper Van is also worth looking out for. This Matchbox/Lesney was sourced in January 2015 from Aston's auctioneers |
