Matchbox/Lesney 41b; Jaguar D-Type (62mm); Green, Rn41, Wire Wheels |
The second release Jaguar D Type was added to the range in 1960 and deleted in 1965. It replaced an identical looking model of the same car - the main difference being that the new car was 10mm longer than the old one, 62mm against 52mm. The new car started out with grey plastic wheels and an open radiator grille. The first change was the grille was cast over. Next the wheels were changed for wires with plastic tyres. The final change was to change the wheels again for red plastic hubs with black tyres. Most cars have racing number 41, cars with RN 5 or 6 are much harder to find. The hardest car to find is RN6, RN5 and red hubs are also scarce as is the early open-grille version. This Matchbox/Lesney was sourced in April 2012 from a private collection |
