Matchbox/Lesney 61a; Ferret Scout Car; Military Green

The first of the small range of Lesney military vehicles which was launched in 1959, the Daimler Ferret Scout car is a cute little truck with a tan coloured soldier in the driving seat. It strikes me that you'd be constantly worried about some enemy soldier dropping in a hand grenade through that open top.

The Ferret stayed in the Matchbox range until 1966, a good long run. While the Matchbox Fundamentalist can find a zillion variations in this item, to the rest of us it is always green with black plastic wheels and a tan driver.
