Matchbox/Lesney 69d; Turbo Fury; Metallic Red, 69 Label, Clear Windows

Yet another product of the fevered imagination of those 1970's designers at Lesney. The Turbo Fury is based on no racing car I can identify, those huge rear fans would have been too much even for the gung-ho approach to race track safety prevalent at the time. This being a 'Rollamatics' model the fans are connected to the rear wheels and rotate as the car is pushed along.

Turbo Fury was in the Matchbox range from 1973 to 1977 and was always this dark red colour. There are three variations to the stickers however and it can be found with clear windows or yellow windows. The most commonly found variation has arrow stickers, racing number 69 and clear windows, 69 with yellow windows is a little harder to find. Racing number 86 is hard to find and demands a reasonable premium but the one to look for is the one with scorpion labels, these are worth quite a lot.
