Matchbox/Lesney 51b; Tipping Trailer; Green, Yellow Hubs, Yellow Barrels, Black Tyres |
This is a nice generic farm tipper trailer which should have three yellow plastic barrels in the back. It always struck me as incongruous that a tipper trailer was used for carrying barrels. Tippers are for loose loads like soil or gravel, barrels are carried on a flat-bed. As a kid it actually put me off owning one - OCD kicking in I guess. The tipping trailer (51b) was produced from 1964 to 1969 and was designed to be paired with 50b the John Deere tractor. The only variations worth talking about are grey tyres or black tyres. The metal is always green and the hubs always yellow. There are some very rare exceptions but they are all pre production prototypes.
