I really enjoyed Life on Mars on the telly, and the programme gave us a great reminder of this iconic and aspirational hot hatch of the 1980s. The Audi Quattro changed the paradigm for mass-produced performance cars - as the sort of management consultant who drove them may have said at the time....

Matchbox fired up their particular Quattro a bit too late to help the brand. It was released just as the Lesney company went into receivership in 1982, it continued in production though under Matchbox Toys Ltd who took on the Matchbox brand after Lesney went south. Lesney Quattros are white or black with black tampos with 'Audi' and RN20.
