Matchbox/Lesney 54b; Cadillac Ambulance

All the UK die-cast car makers seemed to make these improbable American ambulances, here is the version according to Lesney, shame the back does not open. This Matchbox offering crosses over the introduction of Superfast wheels and is found as a regular wheels version with the red cross as a small or large sticker or as a decal, there are guides cast into the doors to help locate the stickers, the small stickers do not reach all the way between the guides. The Superfast version is either white or off-white.

The Cadillac Ambulance (54b) was introduced in 1965 and was converted to Superfast wheels in 1970. It was deleted in 1971. There are no very rare versions of the regular wheels version and it appears to be a very easily found item, the ones with larger door stickers fetch a small premium however. The Superfast versions a a little harder to find and consequently more highly priced with the off white one being slightly rarer than the white one
