Matchbox 20b; ERF 68G Transport Truck
This truck was made for a long
time - from 1959 to 1965 yet it is not that thick on the ground. I guess
sales must have been a bit slow. By 1965 it must have looked a very
pedestrian, but I like it. By then Matchbox was selling the Ford GT40
and Corgi had the James Bond Aston Martin - this old truck must have
seemed a dull dog in comparison. However if we place it next to its 1959
contemporaries it is more than OK, it moves on the Lesney heavy trucks
from the mid 50s quite well. I guess it just stayed in the range for too
long.
You will see it with grey,
black or silver plastic wheels. Silver is hard to find and worth most,
next comes grey with black last of all. There are variations too to the
decals, some have orange outlines and some have red, but this does not
seem to affect value. |
