Matchbox 17d; Foden Hoveringham Tipper

The Foden 8 wheel tipper, always known as the Hoveringham tipper was released as a regular wheels model in 1964 and remained in production until 1969. It is a fine model and one I remember very well from my childhood. We all liked it and owning one was a distinct status symbol in our playground.

There are only two variants. It is always red with an orange tipper back, however sometimes the base under the cab is black, sometimes it is red. The black base versions are worth a little more than the red base versions. It is not though a particularly rare model and does not attract very high prices.
