Matchbox/Lesney 41c; Ford GT 40 |
Curious that they gave the GT40 the model number 41, 41c The Ford GT was released in 1965 and was part of the regular wheels / Superfast transition, the change to Superfast happened in 1969 and the car remained in the range until 1979. The regular wheels version had either red or yellow plastic hubs with plastic tyres and had either white or yellow bodywork. One very rare release has wire wheels. The Superfast car was available in white or bronze and can be found with narrow or wide Superfast wheels.
The top value GT is the regular wheels version with the wire wheels from the Ferrari Berlinetta, these are rarer than hen's teeth and go for thousands. Most of the regular wheels ones you will see are white with yellow hubs. Yellow with yellow hubs is harder to find, White with red hubs and red seats is rare and expensive. The Superfast versions are all of similar value except for an Italian issue in yellow which is very rare indeed.
