Matchbox 1-75 Range

This is a model of a fifth generation Ford F series pickup - probably the half-ton, 2 wheel drive F-100, 1967 or 1968 model. When complete it has a detachable rear clear plastic canopy with four dogs inside, trouble is on playworn examples it is usually detached and long gone, as are the puppies.

Matchbox introduced it into the range in 1969 as a regular wheels item in dark metallic green with black plastic wheels. All through its life it appeared with or without silver plating on the grille and the regular wheels version can be found with a smooth or textured load-bed on the pickup.

In 1971 it gained narrow Superfast wheels but retained the dark green colour. some time during 1971/2 the metallic green was lightened and wider Superfast wheels added. For 1972/3 the colour changed to lime green. The model was deleted in 1973. Through the Superfast period it was made with a variety of coloured bases, black, dark & light grey, yellow, pale green and unpainted. The grille continued to be plated sometimes and white sometimes.

They are all fairly consistent in terms of value, most versions attracting quite a reasonable premium, expect to pay more for Superfast dark green with a black base & chrome grille or any of the yellow or green base plates.
