Matchbox/Lesney 59a; Ford Thames Van Singer

Matchbox 1-75 Range

This is one of those Lesney models that sticks in my mind. For some reason I really liked it when I was a kid, a real favourite - probably because I never had one, deprived you see. I don't remember the dark green though, all my mates had it in pale green.

There are some really rare and valuable versions of this van so look carefully when you find one. Generally speaking the darker green ones are harder to find and worth more than the pale green ones. Also most of these were made in the era of crimped axle ends, so rounded axle ends will always be worth more as fewer were made. Vans which lack the ridges on the doors which were used to locate the decals are worth a small premium. In general look for dark green and rounded axles.
