Matchbox 36e; Formula 5000

Formula 5000 was first released in 1975, through to 1977 the body is coloured orange with a blue or yellow driver and 'Formula 5000' graphics, in 1977 the colour was changed to red with the same graphics retained. In the same year the red car had the graphics changed to Texaco with Marlboro on the spoiler of some of them. From 1978 to deletion in 1980 the spoiler graphic was changed to Champion. Someone at Lesney must have decided that advertising cigarettes to children was not a good look.

In 1981 the car was re-released as 28g with a completely revised set of graphics in a sort of metallic brown/gold with EXXON graphics.
