Matchbox 4e; Gruesome Twosome
Well really, what on earth
is this? Two V8s? That is just plain greedy. Interestingly it is
actually based on a real car, the AMC Phaze II which was a design
exercise that I cannot find a great deal about, I know Politoys made a
model of it in 1970 and Christian Falkensteiner has a picture of it on
his excellent website. But more than that eludes me. Except for the fact
that it did not really have two engines.
However 4e is a Matchbox
Superfast model made between 1971 and 1975, normally it is gold but
later ones can be red or orangey red. The core 1-75 release from 1971-75
was gold with purple or yellow windows. In 1975 there as a series of red
and orange/red releases and a graphite grey release.
The ones to look out for
are the late graphite grey versions (rarest) and cars with gold bodywork
and yellow windows. |
