Matchbox/Lesney 60d; Holden Pick-up |
The Holden Ute is an Australian coupe pick-up based on the Holden / Opel Commodore platform
Matchbox started making this version with two motorbikes in the back in 1977. Production continued right through to the Lesney receivership in 1982/3 and beyond that date the casting was used by Lesney's successors for a custom Pick-up called Ruff Trek, which had oversized wheels and no motorbikes in the back.
The pickup can be found in metallic and gloss red, metallic blue or cream. there are also a whole range of colours of motorbike, windows, baseplate and label styles. Look out for a bright red pickup with a sun label on the bonnet & olive green bikes, other than this the blue and the cream versions seem to attract a premium.
