Matchbox/Lesney 65a; Jaguar 3.4 Litre Saloon

Corgi, Dinky and Matchbox all had a go at the Mk1 Jag. This one is so tiny I had trouble getting the camera to register it and get the focus and exposure right. The Matchbox Jaguar 3.4 Mark 1 (65a) was introduced in 1959 and replaced in 1962 with the Mk2 3.8. They are all blue with grey plastic wheels, some are metallic blue, some gloss blue.

You can tell this is a 3.4 because only the 3.4 had wire wheels and to make room for the knock-on spinner the rear wheel spats are cut away. The 2.8 Mk1 had more covered in rear wheels and a smaller grille. The model on the left is from my childhood toy box and was repainted by me about 40 years ago.

The ones to look out for are the crimped axle models and the hard to find metallic blue.
