Matchbox 38e; Jeep
This model of the military
Jeep, probably a CJ5, was made by Lesney between 1976 and 1980. The
version that sat in the 1-75 range was virtually unchanged for the whole
run. It is seen in shades of military green with a gun mounted in the
load bed. It has a star sticker on the bonnet which shows a white five
pointed star on a green background with a broken white circle around it.
There are two versions of the sticker; one of them is just the star in
the broken circle, the other is similar but has the number 21 on the
left of the circle and 11 on the right. As far as the core product is
concerned that is it. Five years of production, little variation and
very low values now.
According to Ramsay in 1977 a
number of twin-packs were issued . They reference two versions. A
modified military version with no mounted gun and a civilian version,
also with no gun, in red or yellow, but pulling a glider trailer.
However the 'Gliding Club' version is actually a version of 5g, the US
Mail Truck.
The military one is seen in
military olive or military drab with either type of star sticker
described above, the one to look for is olive drab with the plain star
sticker. |
