Matchbox 20d; Lamborghini Marzal
The Lamborghini Marzal was a
prototype concept car presented by Lamborghini at the 1967 Geneva Motor
Show. The Marzal remained a one-off, though the general shape and many
of the ideas would go on to be used in the Espada. It has been popular
with toymakers and model makers being used not just by Matchbox but also
by Dinky Toys, Polistil and White Box, models by these other makers
having passed through Little Wheels over the years.
No.20 in the Lesney range is
one of the ones with no transitional models between regular and
Superfast wheels. The Chevy Impala Taxi had regular wheels up to its
deletion and then in 1969 this new model came along with Superfast
wheels from the start. Most of the ones you will see are metallic red,
some of which may have stickers with 'Avon' and racing no. 2. They are
also seen in bright pink, orange and yellow. Interiors can be white,
orange or yellow and bases can be unpainted or silver painted. The
Marzal was also included in the budget Matchbox Super GT range.
The Lamborghini Marzal (20d)
was released in 1969 and remained in production till 1975. The one to
look for is the yellow one followed by the bright pink one. Orange and
metallic red are the most commonly found.
