Matchbox 19d; Lotus 33 Racing Car
The Lotus Racing Car is a model
of the Lotus 33 and according to Wikipedia: "The Lotus 33 designed by
Colin Chapman, was a Formula One car built by Team Lotus. Introduced for
the 1965 season, Jim Clark took the 33 to victory in its first
appearance at the South African Grand Prix before taking the car to four
more wins to gain his second world championship. Clark missed the Monaco
Grand Prix (a race which he would never win) to race the Lotus in the Indy 500,
which he won."
It is a better model than its
stable-mate the Ferrari 156 even though the wheels are not so nice. By
the way the pictures of the real car on Wikipedia , taken recently, show
yellow wheels and a green body. Who copied whom?
Matchbox model 19d, Lotus
Racing Car was introduced in 1965 and spanned the Superfast Wheels
introduction. It was deleted in 1970. Superfast versions, which are
purple, are generally more desirable than regular wheels although if you
can find a regular wheels one in orange it is worth a bit more than a
green one. The other one to look for is green with racing number 19,
actually that would be worth quite a lot. |
