  Matchbox Exclusive Code 2 Models

These models are special editions produced in small quantities by Matchbox to promote or commemorate an event or an organisation. That is the definition of a Code 2 model in fact. The packaging is similar for most of them, a simple card box with usually retro-style Matchbox branding. Cheap to produce in small numbers.

It is interesting to note how many of these were produced for customers in Australia, Germany and Chester - once the home of a lot of MICA activity and from where a number of matchbox reference books were published. I'm slightly ashamed to say that I lived in Chester for most of the 1980s and 1990s and was completely unaware of all the Matchbox related activity going on there and the museum located in Lower Bridge St.
