Matchbox 6f; Mercedes-Benz 350SL Convertible

This car was a stable part of the Matchbox range for many years, Mercedes cars change so little that it is easy for a die-cast maker to keep the same casting coming over and over again. This one started in 1974 with the 6e soft-top version which stayed in the range until 1982 when it was succeeded by the convertible 6f - which is the same casting with the roof removed.

The 6f Mercedes is found in metallic blue or maroon and stayed in the range until 1984. It carried on after this date in a wide range of colours well into the post Lesney era.
