Matchbox/Lesney 74d; Mercury Cougar Villager

This is a model of the fourth generation Mercury Cougar from 1977 and what was a very low point in the life of the American car, these were huge gas guzzling barges which must have been horrible to drive. Compare this to the original Cougar from the end of the Sixties - a well sorted muscle car, this is a horrible flabby thing and in its station wagon 'Villager' form remaining in the Mercury range for only one year.

The Lesney version was released in 1978 in metallic green switching to metallic blue in 1981. It remained in the range until 1982. Green ones are most commonly found with the slightly harder to find version being blue with orange/yellow seats.
