Matchbox/Lesney 39b; Pontiac Convertible

Matchbox 1-75 Range
This is a transitional model that was first a regular wheels Lesney, converted to Superfast and lives on in the post Lesney era

This is a model of the Pontiac Bonneville, 1960 model. It was introduced into the Matchbox range in 1962 and stayed there until 1967. There are two body colour variations. Early releases were metallic purple but for most of its production it was primrose yellow. It can be found with a maroon or black baseplate and silver, grey or black plastic wheels. Some have a red steering wheel. The windscreen was always green, but is usually missing or damaged.

Generally it is better to go for a purple one rather than a yellow one. Purple with grey wheels is a real find. Of the yellow ones silver wheels are most desirable but a black wheels version with no silver trim will fetch a good price too.
