Matchbox 22c; Pontiac GP Sports Coupe
Another good old Yankee barge
with opening doors (most of the time) and a plastic tow hook. The model
spanned the introduction of Superfast wheels and is found with both
black plastic wheels and Superfast wheels. The regular wheels version is
red or orange/red and the Superfast version is normally shades of
purple.
The Pontiac GP Sports Coupe,
22c, was added to the range in 1965 as a regular wheels model. The only
variation in the regular wheels version is that some are red and some
are orangey red, seats are grey and windows are clear. Orange/red is a
little more sought after than plain red.
It was updated to Superfast
wheels in 1970, being re-coloured purple at the same time, and deleted
in the same year. There is one super-rare Superfast version which is the
red body from the regular wheels car on Superfast wheels (fakes are
known). Some early purple Superfasts have opening doors while most of
them are cast shut.
All the Superfast versions are
hard to find and expensive. Two in particular are in the thousands and
they are the red Superfast and the purple Superfast with opening doors. |
