Matchbox/Lesney 44a; Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud

Matchbox 1-75 Range
This is a transitional model that was first a regular wheels Lesney, converted to Superfast and lives on in the post Lesney era

One of these was in my toybox when I was a kid. It is always silvery metallic blue and can be lighter or darker. The wheels are either metal, grey plastic or silver plastic. That's your lot I'm afraid in terms of variety. It's a stylish and stately car though and I'd really like to have a nice one - I'll keep an eye out I think.

The Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud, 44a, was first sold in 1958 and was replaced by an updated Roller in 1964, so it had a good long run which probably explains why there are no super-rare versions. Plastic wheels are generally a little higher priced than metal except where the axles have crimped ends, these latter cars being the most desirable.
