Matchbox/Lesney 39e; Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow II |
One of a long line of Matchbox Rollers, the Silver Shadow II four door sedan was actually the third Silver Shadow in the 1-75 range. The first was the original Series 1 Shadow (24c) which was modelled as a 1967 model four door sedan with an opening boot and made from 1968 to 1973. That one spanned the introduction of Superfast wheels and for a while was concurrent with the open top two-door Corniche model (69c) made from 1969 to 1973, again with an opening boot. After that came this Series two four door sedan with opening front doors.
The Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow II (39e) was introduced in 1979 and was originally silver. In 1981 it was recoloured metallic red, in 1982 changed to gold and finally in 1983 the colour changed for the last time to a dark plummy red. Of these the only one attracting a premium is the gold one with amber tinted windows.
