Matchbox/Lesney 48e; Sambron Jacklift

Matchbox 1-75 Range
This is a transitional model that was first a regular wheels Lesney, converted to Superfast and lives on in the post Lesney era

This is a handler, a machine mostly used in agriculture simply for lifting things. They tend to have four wheel drive via hydraulic motors in the wheels and four wheel steering. The lift arm is pivoted at the back of the vehicle to give as much lift as possible with stability, the arm is often telescopic to increase reach.

Matchbox's Sambron Jacklift was added to the range in 1977 and remained in production after the brand changed hands in 1983. The Lesney versions are all yellow with variations to colour of wheels, forks and baseplates, none of which affects the value. However if you can find one with Sambron printed in red tampo you have a rare and valuable model. The post Lesney versions are in a range of colours.
