Matchbox 17f; The Londoner Daimler Bus

This MBX is loosely based on the Daimler (later Leyland) Fleetline bus used in London in the 1960s through to the 1980s.

Toy buses, like toy vans, are often used to promote companies, products and events. They were produced in short runs for commercial organisations and charities to carry their adverts. Matchbox 17f The Londoner bus was one of these. It was produced from 1972 to 1982. The standard Matchbox issues were 'Swinging London, and 'Berger Paints'. Berger Paints is very common indeed and attracts no premium at all unless it is silver or gold. The hardest to find variations appear to be the 'Sellotape' promotionals, but there are dozens of different versions.
