I've got about seventy versions of the various
eight wheel Fodens in my database, sadly not though in my collection.
There are two styles of cab and four styles of load bed - flatbed,
dropside, chainside and tanker. All of them are in a range of nice
bright, jolly colours too. They are among the most highly valued
die-casts ever anywhere. All of them are sought after and expensive I
think the top price paid to date is around £12,000 for a maroon early
cab chainside, although they start in the low hundreds.
The first Foden flatbeds were released in 1947. The early cab has an exposed radiator and a contrasting colour flash on the sides. In 1952 or so the cab was updated to match the contemporary 1:1 size trucks and the radiator was put behind the grille and the flash removed. In 1954 the number was changed to 902, the model was finally deleted in 1959.
There are thirteen listed version of the Foden flatbed if you count all the colours and cab styles, you really have to look at Ramsay to get a view on value as they range from a couple of hundred pounds to a couple of thousand.
