This rather smart tanker based on the Studebaker 2R Series light truck was made from 1950 to 1959 under a range of model numbers and liveries. The first releases were cast in aluminium with the word 'PETROL' stencilled in black. These could be red or green, fairly shortly into the production run the material was changed to the usual zamak alloy and in 1952 they got actual oil company liveries; Mobil, Castrol & Esso. These were under the 30p, 30pa & 30pb model numbers.
When Dinky started individually boxing their models and renumbering them in 1954 we got a red Mobil tanker under number 440, green Castrol was 441, red Esso was 442 and yellow National Benzole was 443.
