Nicely detailed model of a Muir-Hill tractor based loader from the early 1960s. Muir Hill (Engineers) Ltd, started in the early 1920s as a general engineering company based in Old Trafford, Manchester, England. Best known for the production of simple rail locomotives and in the company's later life high horse power tractors, with production of Dumpers post war.

Many of their machines were based on Fordson components so in all likelihood, given the year this was first made, there is a Fordson Major tractor under there somewhere.

This one is interesting. To start with it is very fresh and crisp looking, it has been well looked after even though there is no box. The wheels are metal, making it probably pre 1962, but they are green - every other one of these I have seen in red has red wheels. I bought it in France at a classic car show so it could have been a French release although the base is stamped 'Meccano Ltd, England'

Red with green hubs, Taylor-Woodrow decal on rear of cab
