Vanguards VA20001; Leyland Comet Tanker; National Benzole |
The Leyland Comet was introduced in 1947 as a 'world truck', being aimed specifically at export markets. Its styling was typically 'transatlantic' making it popular in countries where American vehicles had been sold in the past, as well as in Britain. The Comet proved to be competitively priced and superior to the average mass-produced truck, making it a useful basis for specialist conversions, including tankers, of which this model is an example. |
